What is my go-to coffee or tea order?

One phone between the two of you — the card says whose turn it is.

About The Couple Quiz

A couple quiz is only worth playing if it is scored, because the interesting number is not how many you got right — it is how many you were confident about and still got wrong. Each card asks you to write down what you think your partner will say. They write their real answer. You compare. Sixty rounds later you have an honest picture of where your mental model of them is accurate and where it is about five years out of date.

How to play The Couple Quiz

  1. Both of you need something to write on — paper, a notes app, anything.
  2. Read a card. You write what you think your partner will answer; they write their real answer.
  3. Reveal at the same time. A match is a point.
  4. Halfway through, swap who is being asked about.
  5. Score out of 60 at the end, then go back to the three you were most confident and most wrong about.

Why couples love this game

Almost every couple overestimates how well they know each other, and the overestimate grows with time together, not down. The reason is simple: you stop updating. You learned who your partner was at the start and then quietly assumed nothing moved. A scored quiz catches that, and the cards you get wrong are worth more than the ones you get right.

Tips to make it more fun

  • Write your confidence next to each answer — high, medium, low. Confident and wrong is the interesting category.
  • No arguing about whether an answer "basically counts". It either matches or it does not.
  • Play it once a year on your anniversary and keep the scores. The trend is the real result.
  • It works over a video call: both write privately, then reveal on camera.
  • Anything you get wrong is a conversation, not a failure. That is the entire point of the game.

Frequently asked questions

How do you play the couple quiz?

One of you writes what you think your partner will say; they write their actual answer. Reveal at the same time and score a point for every match. Swap who is being asked about halfway through and total it out of 60 at the end.

What is a good score on a couple quiz?

Most couples land between 30 and 45 out of 60. The number matters far less than the pattern — everyone gets the food and film questions right and the questions about fears and needs wrong, and that is where the useful conversation is.

Can we play this quiz long distance?

Yes. Both of you write your answers privately during a video call and reveal them to the camera at the same time. Nothing about the scoring needs you to be in the same room.

How many questions are in the couple quiz?

60, free, no sign-up. If you want a shorter version, shuffle and play the first 20.
