About Drinking Games for Couples
Most drinking games for couples fail for the same reason: they were designed for eight people and fall apart with two. There is no group to hide in, no one else to take the round, and the whole thing is over in ten minutes. These 60 prompts are written for exactly two players — every card puts the decision on one of you, and every card has a reason to drink built into it. No cards, no dice, nothing to buy.

How to play Drinking Games for Couples
- Get two drinks and something to eat. This is not a game to play on an empty stomach.
- Read a card out loud. If it applies to you, drink. If it asks a question, answer honestly or drink.
- Refusing to answer always costs a sip. Refusing twice in a row costs two.
- Take turns reading so neither of you controls the pace.
- Agree an end point before you start — twenty cards, or one drink each, whichever comes first.
Why couples love this game
A drinking game for two is really a conversation game with a forfeit attached, and the forfeit is what makes people answer. Knowing there is a sip on the line takes the weight out of the honest answer — you are not confessing, you are just refusing to drink. Half an hour in, most couples have told each other things they had no plan to mention.
Tips to make it more fun
- Water between rounds. The game is better when you both remember it.
- Play it early in the evening rather than as a nightcap. Nobody wins the 1am round.
- Swap alcohol for anything you like — the game works identically with a forfeit of your choosing.
- Stop the moment either of you stops enjoying it. There is no version of this that is worth an argument.
- The best cards are the ones somebody hesitates on. Come back to those tomorrow, sober.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good drinking game for two people?
Anything that puts the decision on an individual rather than a group. Group games like Ring of Fire collapse with two players. Prompt-based games — drink if this is true, or answer honestly — work perfectly, which is what all 60 cards here are.
How do you play drinking games as a couple with no cards?
Open this page on one phone and read the prompts out loud. Every card has its own drink condition built in, so there is nothing to set up and nothing to buy.
Can we play these without alcohol?
Yes, and plenty of people do. Swap the sip for any forfeit you like — a chore, a press-up, a point against you. The game works the same way.
How many drinking game prompts are on this page?
60, free and no sign-up. Agree an end point before you start, drink water between rounds, and stop when either of you wants to.
