About Truth or Drink
Truth or drink questions work because refusing is a legitimate move. You are never forced to answer, which means the answers you do give are real ones — and the questions you drink on say plenty by themselves. These 30 cards escalate as you go, so the early rounds are easy and the last five are the reason you are playing.

How to play Truth or Drink
- Take turns asking. The person asking does not have to answer.
- Answer honestly or take a drink. There is no third option.
- Once you drink on a card, it is done — no going back to it later.
- Anyone can call out a dodge, and a dodge costs a second drink.
- Play in order rather than shuffling. The escalation is deliberate.
Why couples love this game
Every honest-answer game needs a way out, otherwise people invent one by lying. Truth or Drink builds the exit into the rules and charges a small, funny price for using it. That is the whole design: the escape hatch is what makes the honesty possible.
Tips to make it more fun
- Watch which cards get drunk on. That is the actual information.
- Do not push after someone drinks — the whole point is that it settles the question.
- Non-alcoholic works fine; the forfeit just needs to be real.
- Stop before the questions get further than the evening can carry.
- The last five cards are best saved for a night you have plenty of time.
Frequently asked questions
How do you play truth or drink?
Take turns asking each other the cards in order. The person asked either answers honestly or takes a drink. Once someone drinks on a card, that card is closed — no pushing for the answer afterwards.
What makes a good truth or drink question?
One where both options are genuinely tempting. If everyone answers, the question was too soft; if everyone drinks, it was too much. These 30 are ordered to escalate so the balance shifts as the evening goes on.
Can you play truth or drink without alcohol?
Yes — any real forfeit works. The mechanic just needs refusing to cost something small.
