About Drinking Games for Two

Drinking games for two have a specific problem: nearly all of them were designed for a group. Ring of Fire needs a table of people, most card games need a deck, and anything relying on a majority vote collapses immediately. These 40 prompts assume two players and nothing else — no cards, no dice, no counting, just a bottle and a phone.

How to play Drinking Games for Two

  1. Two drinks, one phone, somewhere comfortable.
  2. Read the card. If it applies to you, drink. If it asks something, answer or drink.
  3. Take turns reading so neither of you sets the pace.
  4. Agree the finish line before you start — twenty cards or one drink each.
  5. Water between rounds, always.

Why couples love this game

With two people every round lands on someone. There is no hiding in the group, no waiting three turns for your go, and no diluting a good question across eight players. That concentration is why a two-player drinking game gets personal faster than a party version ever does.

Tips to make it more fun

  • Eat first. Two-player games move faster than group ones.
  • Any card can be swapped for a non-alcoholic forfeit — the game works identically.
  • Stop as soon as it stops being fun. Nothing here is worth an argument.
  • The cards someone hesitates over are worth revisiting sober.
  • Play early evening rather than late. The 1am round is never the good one.

Frequently asked questions

What drinking games work with only two people?

Prompt-based ones. Anything that needs a group — Ring of Fire, most card games, anything with a majority vote — falls apart with two players. Games where each card lands on one person work perfectly, which is what all 40 cards here do.

Do you need cards or dice for these?

No. Everything is on this page and every card carries its own drink condition. Two drinks and a phone is the whole setup.

Can we play without alcohol?

Yes. Replace the sip with any forfeit you like — the structure of the game does not change at all.
