About The 100 Question Game for Couples

The 100 question game for couples is the long version — not a party game, a project. Most lists of a hundred questions are a hundred random questions; this one is ordered, opening with things you could answer on a bus and closing with things you would only say to one person. Play ten a night for ten nights, or the whole thing on a long journey. Every question is listed on this page, so you can read ahead if you want to.

How to play The 100 Question Game for Couples

  1. Decide your pace first: ten a night, twenty-five a sitting, or all hundred on one long journey.
  2. Both of you answer every question. Whoever asks, answers second.
  3. Never skip forward for a better question — the order is the point.
  4. Mark where you stopped so you can pick it up next time.
  5. When one question turns into a real conversation, that is a good night. Stop there.

Why couples love this game

Length is the mechanic. Ten questions is a nice evening; a hundred questions is a sustained stretch of paying attention to one person, and the second half only works because the first half happened. Couples who play it in sittings report the same thing — the questions they thought were throwaway at number twelve are the ones that come back up at number eighty.

Tips to make it more fun

  • Do not do all hundred in one go the first time. Save the last twenty for a night you will remember.
  • Write down three answers that surprise you and revisit them in a year.
  • Long drives, trains and flights are the natural home for this deck.
  • If your partner gives a short answer to a big question, wait rather than moving on.
  • It also works as an anniversary tradition — same hundred questions, a year apart, different answers.

Frequently asked questions

What is the 100 question game for couples?

It is a hundred questions answered in order, usually across several sittings, going from light to serious. The order is what makes it work: the early questions build the habit of answering properly, so the later ones land. All 100 are listed on this page.

How long does the 100 question game take?

About two to three hours if you do it in one go, but most couples split it — ten questions an evening across a couple of weeks, or twenty-five at a time on long journeys.

Should we skip questions we do not like?

Pass rather than skip, and say why you are passing. The refusal is usually more informative than the answer would have been. Just do not jump ahead to find a better question — the sequence is doing real work.

Can we play the 100 question game long distance?

Yes. It is one of the best long distance games there is, because a fixed list gives a video call a shape. Ten questions per call is a good rhythm.
