How to play Rapid Fire for Couples

  1. Set a three-second timer, or count out loud.
  2. Read the card and answer immediately with whatever comes first.
  3. No revising once you have said it.
  4. Go through all fifteen without stopping, then discuss.

Why couples love this game

Speed strips out the editing. Given time, everyone gives the answer they think they should give; given three seconds, you get the one that was already there. The revisions people want to make afterwards are usually the most telling part.

Tips to make it more fun

  • Do not stop between cards. Momentum is the whole mechanic.
  • Note anything you wanted to take back — that is the good stuff.
  • It works perfectly as a warm-up before a slower deck.
  • Run it twice with the roles swapped.

Frequently asked questions

How do you play rapid fire questions?

Three seconds per card, answer with the first thing that comes out, and no revising afterwards. Run all fifteen without pausing, then go back and talk about the ones you wanted to take back.

Why not give more time to think?

Because thinking produces the answer you believe you should give. Three seconds produces the one that was already there, which is the entire point of the format.
