How to play Date Night Questions Game

  5. Save three cards for the way home.

Why couples love this game

Date night has a structural problem: you have set aside time specifically to enjoy each other's company, which is a lot of pressure for a Tuesday. Having something to open takes the pressure off. Nobody has to think of something interesting to say, because the interesting thing is already on the screen.

Tips to make it more fun

  • Do not open this at a table where you can hear the next table. Some cards need a bit of privacy.
  • If a card leads somewhere good, abandon the deck entirely. It has done its job.
  • Works just as well on a sofa with a takeaway as in a restaurant.
  • Pick the first card yourself rather than shuffling — start where you want the evening to go.
  • One card at the very end of the night is worth more than five at the start.

Frequently asked questions

What are good questions to ask on date night?

Ones you can answer with food in front of you — warm, specific, and not requiring a serious mood. "What is something you noticed about me recently?" works at a table; "what is your greatest fear?" does not.

How do you keep date night from feeling forced?

Bring something to open. Most of the awkwardness in a planned date night comes from both people trying to think of something interesting to say, and a prepared deck removes that job entirely.

How many date night questions are on this page?

30 — roughly one per course plus a few for the way home. Free, no sign-up, works from any phone at the table.
